Graduate Instructors: Summer 2026

- GWS 378: Fairy Tales and Gender Formation (Summer II B, 7/13/26 - 8/2/26)
The Department of Gender and Women’s Studies seeks applications for three graduate instructor positions for Summer 2026. All courses will be taught asynchronously online, and course design (including Canvas site, syllabus and course materials, and assignments) will be provided. The graduate instructor will be responsible for providing student feedback, holding regular office hours, and grading. These positions are contingent upon enrollment.
Applicants must be UIUC graduate students enrolled in a graduate program that has not been designated as cost-recovery or self-supporting. Applicants should have previous teaching experience and a strong academic background in gender and sexuality studies, including queer and/or trans studies. Teaching Assistants: AY 2026-27
The Department of Gender and Women's Studies seeks applications for graduate teaching assistants to staff discussion sections for the following courses:
Fall 2026
- GWS 100: Introduction to Gender & Women's Studies (2 TA positions)
- GWS 202: Sexualities (2 TA positions)
Spring 2027
- GWS 100: Introduction to Gender & Women's Studies (2 TA positions)
These are 50% appointments, which include a tuition and fee waiver and a salary that meets or exceeds university guidelines. Teaching assistant responsibilities for these courses consist of:
- Attending two lectures per week (conducted by the professor)
- Being available to meet with the professor as needed
- Preparing and teaching two discussion sections per week
- Holding office hours for students in their assigned discussion sections
- Grading all assignments and exams for students in their assigned discussion sections
Applicants must be UIUC graduate students enrolled in a graduate program that has not been designated as cost-recovery or self-supporting. Teaching assistants must be on campus and available to work on the first day of their appointment. These positions are contingent on enrollments in the courses.
