The Department of Gender and Women's Studies is thrilled that Professor Ghassan Moussawi is a recipient of the 2023 LAS Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. As an interdisciplinary scholar of transnational approaches to gender and sexuality, Professor Moussawi's ability to deftly facilitate conversations across fields and across students from a multiplicity of disciplines is remarkable. Moreover, a former student praised his respect and compassion, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, noting that he “demonstrated what an intelligent and supportive professor can achieve across digital and physical spaces alike."
