Prof. Toby Beauchamp's essay ("When Things Don't Add Up: Transgender Bodies and the Mobile Borders of Biometrics") in Trans Studies: The Challenge to Hetero/ Homo Normativities, has been awarded the 2017 Sylvia Rivera Award in Transgender Studies from the Center of Lesbian and Gay Studies. The Center for LGBTQ Studies (CLAGS) was founded in 1991 as the first university-based research center in the United States dedicated to the study of historical, cultural, and political issues of vital concern to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer individuals and communities.
